Let’s Meet

Your city police and fire departments are actively seeking your input and involvement. We have recently instituted "Coffee With A Cop" to get to know our citizens better. Operation Overwatch goes even further by allowing us to help you directly.

Caring attention to detail

Vestavia Hills is our city too. We really care about keeping our citizens and businesses safe. While we know not all problems are preventable, we also know many more are. We want to help. Schedule an Overwatch call today!

A Great Idea

An idea whose time has come! Operation Overwatch will allow active interaction between you and your police and fire departments. Active prevention means less crime and preventable disasters in our area.

General Information/History

Project 365 “Operation Over-Watch

October 2012–VHPD & VHFD have partnered to launch our next Project 365 entitled “Operation Over-Watch”.  We are excited about the potential of this joint effort and firmly believe that the services engrained within this project will enhance the overall security and safety of your family, home and/or place of business.

Operation Over-Watch is a “Free”, scheduled and confidential public service.  Members of the Vestavia Hills Police & Fire Departments will assist you in addressing vulnerabilities in your home or business by reviewing overall safety measures, testing alarms, offering fire & crime prevention recommendations and providing a detailed report reflecting suggestions for your review.   The police officers will be in plain clothes, the city vehicle will be unmarked and the review should take less than an hour.

The service is non-invasive and will primarily consist of Q&A and discussion. Our goal as public servants is to ensure the safety and security of all citizens and visitors in our city.  This service will provide insight on how everyone can do their part!

VHPD and VHFD extend special thanks to our primary sponsors of the project:  Two Men and a Truck, Andy’s Creekside Nursery, Vestavia Hills Sunrise Rotary Club & Target.
